Classical riding principles are strictly adhered to where communication between horse and rider is the primary objective. This means that the rider must develope a secure and effective seat so he or she can "listen" to the horse with their body instead of needing it to "hang on". (The "longe lesson" is alive and well at Freestyle!) At the same time the rider must learn a means of communication the horse can understand and must also learn to perceive and comprehend everything the horse consciously or unconsciously imparts. |
| Horses and/or riders who have lost their confidence or have become frustrated because they seem to be "stuck" in the same problems will find a sympathetic, encouraging atmosphere coupled with a knowledgeable assessment so the problem can be solved. | ![]() |

Students are encouraged to enjoy the benefits and rewards of showing. Valuable experience and feedback can be gained for both rider and horse by participation in competition. The feeling of accomplishment obtained by winning a ribbon or improving one's personal bests can infuse a rider with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm. Depending on the student, show environments can range from a low-key local schooling show to a regional championship competition or beyond. | ![]() |
